Mizan Therapy

I started working with Felicia after trying to get pregnant for almost a year. I saw her once a month for Mizan therapy, which was such an amazing and nourishing treatment. Felicia is so knowledgeable and incredibly skilled in facilitating a safe, supportive space, with her empathetic and warm-hearted personality. After seeing doctors and fertility specialists and trying to get taken seriously for my PCOS symptoms, she was the first person who actually took time to truly listen to me and my story, as well as offer a more holistic perspective on my situation (also taking into account my stressful work environment back then). After our first appointment already, I felt more calm and optimistic than I had in a long time. 

After the third month of working with Felicia, I was overjoyed (and in slight disbelief) to hold a positive pregnancy test in my hands.  I did make some other lifestyle changes around that time, following Felicia’s guidance. I don’t know why I finally got pregnant that month, it’s probably a combination of many factors, but I sincerely do feel that working with Felicia has played a key role in it. I’m forever grateful for Felicia’s support during such a challenging time of my life, and to now be holding my wonderful little daughter in my arms :)

Mizan Therapy

I was a little nervous before my first Mizan therapy session with Felicia. I didn’t know what to expect. It was extremely pleasant to communicate with Felicia; she immediately inspires trust, and opening up about such intimate parts of myself and my body was very easy. I received a lot of new information that has helped—and continues to help—me on my healing journey.

During the therapy, I experienced very interesting sensations. One of the most remarkable was being able to completely relax and let go. Since giving birth 4 years ago, I don’t remember ever feeling so relaxed and calm. My digestion also started working much better after the Mizan therapy.

After just two sessions with Felicia, I have begun to sense my womb more than ever before, and I definitely want to continue deepening that connection. I also notice more feelings related to my womb and body, and how these connections affect certain conditions. The more I notice, the more I am able to release anything negative.

I am completely satisfied and very grateful to Felicia!

Amazing is how I would sum up my experience with Felicia! After my experience, I tell every person I know that they need to have a doula (preferably Felicia).

Felicia has a wonderful process and really spent time with me and my husband before labour. She took us through a class to explain the various stages of labour and shared movies/videos on the topic to help me as I made my birth plan and decide if I wanted to proceed naturally or with pain medicine.

When the day arrived, I couldn’t have delivered my little girl without her being by my side. Felicia was my rock during the entire delivery. She was extremely hands on (which is exactly what I needed) – walking the hallways with me during contractions and helping to manage my pain by pressing into my back during each contraction. She knew exactly what to do without me having to say anything. As much as I love my husband and was happy he was by my side, it was Felicia who I looked for during the hard moments. She was strong and helped me get over the moments when I thought I couldn’t do it anymore and was scared something was wrong. Even when I asked for the epidural to help manage the pain (at almost fully dilated – so it wouldn’t have worked), she reminded me that I am strong and reminded me of my desire to birth without pain medication… and so I did. She helped me push through those moments and deliver the Helen into the world safe and sound. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Felicia!

We decided to have a doula fairly late in our pregnancy (about 36 weeks). We had several options but ultimately chose Felicia after reading her website and having a phone interview with her. We then met with her and right away realized that we had made the right decision in choosing her. Felicia was excellent! From the initial visit she was extremely knowledgeable and we had a good and thorough discussion about laboring and natural birth. She gave us several tips on what can work to ensure we have smooth laboring at home. She made a lot of recommendations which ended up helping us immensely. She provided a comprehensive list of things that may be useful to have during laboring. She also always responded to us promptly and when we went into labor she came to us immediately upon our request. Having her part of our labor and delivery really made having a natural birth memorable and we were confident in the process because she was there the whole time; we felt very supported. She was great dealing with the hospital staff, she was assertive when needed and always polite, she asked questions, and made sure to remind staff of our birth plan. She remained professional throughout and her approach was very calming and friendly. At our request she also gave us recommendations for lactation counselors and pediatrician who we ended up liking a lot. We would easily recommend her to our family and friends and we would hire her again!

I heard about Felicia through my sister. My sister had Felicia assist her during her second birth and raved about how amazing she was throughout the whole process. Although geographically it wouldn't work out that she could be my doula, my husband and I were eager to take her child birthing class. We did the two day course.

Before the course, I can tell you I was so nervous about birth/pain. I was nervous that I would not be capable. BUT after the class all my nerves calmed down. Felicia went into great detail about birth and the beauty it is to get to go through this experience. My favorite thing about the whole course was something she said personally to me "the baby is coming out no matter what, it's just how you decide to experience it." I don't think she realized how impactful that was for me. I can tell you that completely changed my mindset about the birthing process!! My wife and I were having our first birth, we were living in a country with a very high rate of birth intervention and caesarean, and were desperate to connect with someone for birth wisdom and knowledge. I thank Life that we found Felizia.

We had to do the prenatal classes over Zoom, but I felt like Felizia was in the room with us, such was her energy, attention, and empathy. She has clearly crafted and honed out comprehensive and methodical structure for the lessons, and we talked through all of the stages and possible eventualities of pregnancy, birth, and post-partum. She holds that rare duo that we were looking for, a practical and medical understanding of birth having assessed medical papers and the like, but also a deep connection to the spiritual and emotional journey of birth. Sometimes excelling in one of these two precludes the other, not with Felizia.

We would have dearly loved to have had her as our doula and midwife through birth, but some other young parents had seen her value before we had managed to and booked her at the same time!

Still we are far better placed after her classes, and are now just so excited for the birth, our 'fear of the unknown' well banished.

My wife and I feel so lucky to have met Felicia. We had a few pre-birth sessions with her to help coach me so that I can support my wife before, during and after birth as well as coach my wife on what to expect and how to prepare physically and spiritually for the big event. The knowledge and tools she provided us before my wife gave birth were so helpful especially since this was our first child. All I wanted as a first time father was to know how I can best help my wife during this difficult time. In order to explain why Felicia was my chosen doula angel, I have to explain my birth story just a bit. She was incredible from the very beginning and we clicked RIGHT AWAY (sometimes you just know). She had taken several courses in the birth world to help me navigate comfort during my pregnancy as well as during labor. We talked diet, three sisters, emotional labor support, ambiance, birth plan, etc. Not a single ideal was left unturned by her curiosity as well as her dedication to ME and what I wanted, which was a home birth at the time. At 35 weeks, my son had decreased movement. Shortly after visiting the hospital, he was pronounced dead with no heart beat. My entire world came down around me- everything was white. I called Felicia and with maybe a single sentence, she was on her way to me. When she got to me, she held me and protected me fiercely. She made sure that even though I was forced to give up on a lot of what I previously wanted, I would remain respected and comfortable before and during my birth. She was with me throughout labor, when my son was born and afterward. She wept with me, held me and offered me support in a way that I could not have gotten from any other person. After the birth, she showed up to my home with gifts of love and continued to check up on me and still does till this day. 

They say that doula’s “mother the mother” ... and oh how deeply true that is! What I needed most in those moments was someone to love, nurture and support me and she definitely did. With her influence, I became a doula myself. There are no words in this lifetime or the next that will EVER have enough depth to explain my gratitude. Thank you is simply not enough.

At that point I was a bit worried because my due date was approaching and I still didn't find anyone to help me deliver my baby. Felicia was the first knowledgeable person I spoke with. Importantly, she gave me instructions on how I can help my baby to change position from breech to head down. Felicia is a perfect fit as a doula because she was very prepared, educated, and had done a lot of research. As well, she had many tips and tricks for my water birth. We made a plan together for my birth and I told her everything I wanted and needed and Felicia met all of my desires and wishes to the best of her ability. She also showed my husband a couple moves we would be doing during labor such as pain relieving movements, pressure points, and many other options to help me. During the actual labor (which was 20 hours) she was very patient, attentive, and extremely helpful, and never let me give up. She made me feel very comfortable with her and was very friendly and caring so that’s why I ended up choosing her as my birth doula. She has also been supportive and reliable during my postpartum because she made sure everything is ok with me and still does and offers an open line of communication to this day.
