POEM: Why Keep a Moon in Orbit?

why keep a moon in orbit
when she’s really a planet of her own
no satellite to anyone
her body is her home
she’d like to dance with another
around a star that shines so bright,
two planets, perfect harmony
sacred geometry in flight
why keep a moon in orbit
when you know she’s meant for more,
for something real and something big
that’s why she’s closed the door
she’s discovering the freedom
where the fire and water reside
when love is brave and love is kind
and love will never hide.
so why keep a moon in orbit
like a story on a leash,
a memory of the times gone by,
the triumphs and defeat
is it love you want? well we carve our paths
by the whispers of our soul,
hope you’re listening to yours, my friend
because one day we all grow old
this moon, she’s broke her orbit,
the choice was always hers,
was scared to leave the past behind
but the wisdom always cures.
it’s pulling her through outer space,
her heart is like a flame,
gravity it leads the way
to a star that calls her name
